چکیده

Yu et al. (Fuzzy Sets and Systems 105 (1999) 429) performed general piecewise necessity regression analysis based on linear programming (LP) to obtain the necessity area. Their method is the same as that according to data distribution, even if the data are irregular, practitioners must specify the number and the positions of change-points. However, as the sample size increases, the number of change-points increases and the piecewise linear interval model also becomes complex. Therefore, this work devises general fuzzy piecewise regression analysis with automatic change-point detection to simultaneously obtain the fuzzy regression model and the positions of change-points. Fuzzy piecewise possibility and necessity regression models are employed when the function behaves di erently in di erent parts of the range of crisp input variables. As stated, the above problem can be formulated as a mixed-integer programming problem. The proposed fuzzy piecewise regression method has three advantages: (a) Previously specifying the number of change-points, then the positions of change-points and the fuzzy piecewise regression model are obtained simultaneously. (b) It is more robust than conventional fuzzy regression. The conventional regression is sensitive to outliers. In contrast, utilizing piecewise concept, the proposed method can deal with outliers by automatically segmenting the data. (c) By employing the mixed integer programming, the solution is the global optimal rather than local optimal solution. For illustrating more detail, two numerical examples are shown in this paper. By using the proposed method, the fuzzy piecewise regression model with detecting change-points can be derived simultaneously. c © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Using a Fuzzy Piecewise Regression Analysis to Predict the Nonlinear Time-Series of Turbulent Flows with Automatic Change-Point Detection

Research has already shown that turbulent flow consists of some coherent timeand space-organized vortical structures. Some dynamic systems and experimental models are employed to understand the turbulent generation mechanism. However, these approaches still cannot provide a good nonlinear analysis of turbulent time-series. In the real turbulent flow, very complicated nonlinear behaviors, which ...

Change –Points Detection in Fuzzy Point Data Sets

Change-points detection is one of important problems in data analysis. Traditional change-points detection method is based on exact data sets which can’t reflect prior information of data. In this paper, a new concept, called “fuzzy point data” which is defined by giving a fuzzy membership to the data in exact data sets, is proposed for helping us handle the confidence of data. We introduce reg...

Dynamic Frailty and Change Point Models for Recurrent Events Data

Abstract. We present a Bayesian analysis for recurrent events data using a nonhomogeneous mixed Poisson point process with a dynamic subject-specific frailty function and a dynamic baseline intensity func- tion. The dynamic subject-specific frailty employs a dynamic piecewise constant function with a known pre-specified grid and the baseline in- tensity uses an unknown grid for the piecewise ...

An Iterative Algorithm for Automatic Fitting of Continuous Piecewise Linear Models

Continuous piecewise linear models constitute useful tools to extract the basic features about the patterns of growth in complex time series data. In this work, we present an iterative algorithm for continuous piecewise regression with automatic change-points estimation. The algorithm requires an initial guess about the number and positions of the change-points or hinges, which can be obtained ...

HANDFIT: An Algorithm for Automatic Fitting of Continuous Piecewise Regression, with Application to Feature Extraction from Remote Sensing Time Series Data

This work presents the algorithm HANDFIT, an iterative method for continuous piecewise regression with automatic change-points estimation. From an initial guess about the number and positions of the changepoints or hinges, they are iteratively adjusted by Newton-like displacements, with very fast convergence in most cases. The algorithm allows for sufficiently close hinges to be identified, thu...
